Technology is an unstoppable force, and the collateral results that splash of its movements, touches every aspect of our society; therefore changing it and combine with it also. For example, the world of education and entertainment.

Legos! The company behind this invention had the magnificent idea of handing over a way for kids to build their own block figurine toys, basically from scratch but with a guide; the bran became a success worldwide, and now in 2017 there is a new idea to continue the Lego adventure through a technology sub-brand that promises totransform lego pieces into personal robots! And all for kids to do it.

A mishmash of motors, sensors, little and protected electrical pieces, and a small app that will guide children in the basic how of coding. A robot companion for kids is actually a challenging idea, and the project didn’t happen in just a matter of days.

The development is called Lego Boost. It’s aimed for kids from 7 ages to up, but the topic is too interesting to avoid a young adult public to get invested in; it is defined as a creative toolbox that can transform a traditional toy with a power button and the creativity to put it together.

The first Lego Boost has 843 blocks, three of those are “boost” bricks that puts the magic in motion; the robot receives energy from batteries, 6 triple A to be exact and it is designed to be hidden after constructing the lego robot so kids can put pieces on top of it without problem; the boost bricks come with several combination of colors, a sensor that determines distance, a tilt sensor, one interactive motor (with an intelligent tachometer included), four ports (input and output) and a light that changes of tones. Although boost legos can differ certain aspects from one and other.

As usual, the company hands over a few guided models with building instructions for several pre-designed alternatives like “Frankie the Cat” and Vernie the Robot. Also there’s something called autobuilder, is an aid machine that works for building new small lego pieces for users and in order to access to it people have to download the official application of lego Boost. Through the app all the essentials to the coding process are revealed, each instruction explained with detail and the key for forging your enhanced lego will be found.

There’s an important piece in all the skeleton of our new toy that is called “the move hub”, is the core of life to get started with the lego boost, and truth be told is only the three special blocks but pieced together into one.

The fantastic aspect that makes this project something marvelous is the fact that kids can build this new small tech with pre-existing legos, so it does recycling of some sort, avoiding the original product to be forgotten and turn into waste; not only that but, giving the diversity of sets that have been made, they can create a toy so personal that will endure the experience for a long time.
