The technology world is presented in many areas of the daily life, and in other areas where it seems to not having compatibility; also, the technological advances, slowly, have been winning spaces. This is the case of the Samsung swimming cap with Bluetooth, an example of how the technology can help to sports.
But in this case, would be more than a simple help, because it is about to bring an effective support to the swimmers with visual deficiency. For that, the south Korean firm has designed this cap that it counts with Bluetooth technology to guide to the athlete with visual limitations, thanks to the new system of vibration, which will send an alert to the user to do a somersault return at the right moment.
Since the swimming was included as a competition specialty in the Paralympics in 1960, this would be the biggest technological advance on that sport. The current system that guide to the swimmer with visual incapacity to make the turn at the right time, consists of a stick with a sponge that make contact with the swimmer’s body, controlled (of course) by his coach. But with this new device, this alert would be made in a safer and more practical way.
The cap in question, denominated Samsung Blind Cap, is synchronized with the Smartwatch Gear S2 (the last smartwatch of the technologic firm) or with the Samsung Galaxy S7 via Bluetooth, and it is trough this connection that the coach of the swimmer can alert him with only a movement from the phone, for the athlete performs the manoeuvre return. The sign from the mobile produces a little vibration in the hat, which make that the athlete is alerted. The synchronization between the Samsung Blind Cap and the mobile phone is made with an app that it has to be downloaded, and which it is available for the Android platform.
Even when it is about a prototype very advanced by the south Korean company, and that it is not available yet in the market, the users can see its functioning through an exclusive web site of the device, blindcap.com, where it can be seen with details the technology use to carry out this project that can change the standards of entertainment and competition of those athletes who, even with their visual disability, practice this aquatic sport.
