Mastercard is doing it right! All thanks to its new take on the service with a biometric card.

This is a hybrid between two kinds of tech, fingerprint recognition and standard chip systems; this was conceived as a way to verify correctly the information in the card with the cardholder.

In-Store shopping requires the physical identification of the card’s owner and since there has been so many takes on falsification, stolen IDs, and other sort of issues, then it was finally time for a change and a piece of improvement.

These new type of cards work with structured technology of fingerprint recognition and scanning, this is an already done progress but only through mobile payments channels, but the goal is to get it real with EMVs at worldwide range, in any kind of shop. The first test trail is happening at South Africa, which has been designated as the first world market where evolved technology of payment will take place. The companies aiding this process are the Absa Bank and Pick n Pay.

The activity does not have any source of complication (at the moment), is just a direct touch to pay and confirm system.

Use your fingerprint to authorize and authenticate the required data for the money transaction, and once approved (a matter of minutes), there you go! Shopping is done.

Biometrics is a way to give comfort and security; also reduce lack of fear towards tech, cyber scamming, and malfunctions of process. People are hesitant to tryout this system because the level of risk is almost nonexistent, there are other trials required to approve it as a whole worldwide advancement but for the moment things are looking good. Fingerprints are unique proofs of someone identity, and given there’s a database at each nation, and then it would be easier to introduce it into the existing payment process.

Next Generation Security

While you shop at stores so calmly and entertained, you will finally get to the point that nobody loves, getting in the stressful line to pay. Well, biometric cards are also a way to speed things up a bit since everything will be even more systematized then the regular time it takes for a payment to get done will be simplified.

The encryption of digital information that now includes your print works through a network of card terminal that could be used globally.

Benefits of this project are molding it into the poster alternative for replacing standard form of payment; one of the greatest things of it is the capacity for improving the experience of customers whenever they visit a shop that applies this, operational costs are reduced by a little but important percentage and given the safe environment that brings to the table then it could boost up customer loyalty.

There are more things in for the good rather than to lose with biometric cards, Mastercard is moving its chess play in a good direction, the strategy of giving people what they need in a world that’s getting more insecure every day will give its fruits in the future, the company will benefit people in a good way efficiently. We hope for it.
