People know they think too much about the past, reminiscence of what happened before and is not going on anymore is common, but since a few years back it seems like gets heavier with time; like it can be too mucho of remembering and not living the day-by-day situation.
Those tiny devices with electronic pets in them were not a hit, they were THE hit; 90s can’t be simply resumed in just a few things, the greatest things of this digital era actually started to rise at the end of the 20th century and believe or not Tamagotchis were a core part of it.
Kids would fight over who will be first on getting their own, the amazing excitement of having a digital pet and take care of it, learning a bit or two of responsibility was such a curious scene to watch, trending toys and devices were a thing way before and everything that was a novelty and had a cool aspect in the looks was enough for having children get all over it at once.
The thing was simple: You got a pet now, it’s on a smart device a little bit bigger than a watch, you need to feed it, give it care and clean his freaking poop (please! Or it will die), and look how it grows into a bigger and improved version of himself like a Digimon/Pokemon.
Fortunately, here you won’t have to catch them all or have them fight with other little monsters; the game was simple and had enough strength for that moment to be a success.
Now, if you remember correctly then you’ll probably get excited and a hit of nostalgia when you heard that Tamagotchis are coming back.
The comeback
Out there in Japan, they have decided to launch a new Tamagotchi, based of course on the original version, this one is only available in that country for the moment and is out for $18 or 2000 yen.
The look is the same as always, egg-like and similar to a Digimon device (a son of the Tamagotchi, actually).
The nostalgia is the favorite topic for companies to benefit from, and given now that social media is the channel where everybody communicates everything, relevant or not, then the fire of the Tamagotchi could be spread faster, therefore we could see it on the U.S and Europe real soon.
The spark of a game with such simplicity and charm gets people moving, grown or small; people will buy it immediately and with no necessary explanation, also it is very probable that after a while of some trendy moment, most users will grow tired of it and pass it to the next person/children in order for them to complete the cycle of excitement that we all complete when something gets its wave of popularity.
